New signs in East Village building lobbies
You will soon notice new posters and stickers in building lobbies across East Village. They bring together practical information about your building and simple steps we can all take to help keep it safe.
The building poster will show who to contact about fire safety, where to find your building’s evacuation information, and how to report concerns such as a damaged fire door or a blocked escape route. Once available, please take a moment to read the poster in your lobby. The evacuation instructions may differ between buildings, so check the information for yours.

Would you need help in an emergency?
If you or someone you live with might need help leaving the building in a fire, please tell us now. This could be because of a disability, a health condition, an injury or another circumstance that affects your ability to leave safely.
Even if you’re not certain whether you’d need help, we’d prefer for you to contact us so we can talk through your circumstances confidentially. Simply email [email protected] to reach the Estates team. From there, we can arrange an assessment and work with you on a plan suited to your needs.
If you need the lobby information in another language, large print or another format, you can request that using the same email address.
Be mindful at building entrances
The new “Be Mindful. Be Secure” stickers near entrances are a reminder to avoid letting people you don’t know enter the building behind you. Please make sure the entrance door closes after you and ask visitors to contact the person they’re visiting to be let in.
Allowing someone to follow you into a building can affect the security of shared spaces and residents’ homes. Our article, Working together to keep East Village safe and secure, has more advice on building access, looking after parcels and reporting security concerns.
Help us keep East Village safe. Once they’ve been installed, please take a moment to read the new signs. Let us know if you or someone you live with might need help in an emergency – and make sure people entering your building use their own access fob. Small actions like these help protect everyone who lives here.
